Imperium is an online journal dedicated to the study of the postcolonial experience within a diverse range of contexts related to media and postcolonial studies. The rise of the two disciplines in the context of internationalisation and globalisation in the post-war cultural milieu provides the intellectual impulse for the development of the journal. We aim to address issues arising from the inter/multi-disciplinary origins/nature of the two fields as well as the evolving disciplinarity of the two areas especially in terms of pedagogy and academic programmes. Conceptually, the two fields share a quest to define/portray human experience under imperia of different types, past and present. The journal aims to map, debate and discuss the diverse overlaps, conflicts and complicities that have characterised creative tensions and critical perspectives underpinning both media and postcolonial studies Papers are fully refereed and the journal aims for a turnaround within three months within its six-monthly publication cycle. Interested parties are invited to contribute papers for publication within the remit of the journal. The journal is free, but readers are advised to subscribe in order to best support our aims. Readers can view current contents and also an archive section for previous papers. Anyone interested in the journal is invited to contact us for further information. ....................................................................................................................................... |
